EFSA’s campaign “Stop African Swine Fever”

This year’s occurrence of swine fever in Croatia has caused significant damage to pig farmers and Croatian agriculture, highlighting the necessity of continuously raising awareness and encouraging the implementation of preventive measures. The Communication Office Colić, Laco, and partners has been supporting the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) for four years in the implementation of annual campaigns “Stop African Swine Fever”. The campaigns are aimed at pig farmers, hunters, and veterinarians, and in Croatia we carry them out in close cooperation with the Croatian Agency for Agriculture and Food (HAPIH). The aim of the regular campaigns is to inform and educate about this infectious disease, which is devastating for pigs. The campaign also informs on the ways the disease can be prevented and recognized, and how and to whom to report suspicious cases. The campaigns are supported by the Ministry of Agriculture, Croatian Veterinary Chamber, Croatian Agricultural Chamber, Association of Breeders of the Black Slavonian Pig “Fajferica”, and the Croatian Veterinary Institute.
